From Cruise Port:    Hobart

Our wildlife, wilderness and waterfalls adventure begins when we meet you at the port in Hobart at 9am.

We start with a one hour scenic drive to Mount Field National Park, heading inland along the Derwent River valley. This is Tasmania's oldest National Park and is famous for the Russell Falls and the Tall Trees. The park has a wide variety of scenic features and wildlife and few other national parks in Australia offer such a diversity in vegetation, ranging from tall swamp gum forests and massive tree ferns, to rainforest and alpine vegetation at the higher elevations.

Our first walk is an easy 30 minute return walk to the to the famous 3 tiered Russell Falls where we have have time to explore and take photos. Then we move on to the Tall Trees walk, another easy 30 minute walk through the national park area of wilderness, again with time to enjoy the location and take photos. These are some of the tallest trees in the world at over 80 metres tall.

We provide a light picnic lunch which we can enjoy in the National park, in one of the numerous beautiful settings before continuing onwards for the day.

Our final destination on the tour is Bonorong Wildlife Park which is home to many of our rescued and well loved wildlife. As soon as you walk through the old wooden gate you will realise you have come to a place where animals are deeply cared for and you become part of an inspiring conservation story.

The tour route today follows the Derwent River valley and on the way back to the port we will show you some of the Hobart sights time permitting, arriving back at the port around 3.45pm to 4pm.

We understand the weather can change quite quickly in Tasmania.

Yes, due to our location in the southern pacific ocean, the weather systems can change quickly throughout the day. We do travel inland to higher ground so we suggest some warm and waterproof clothing is brought, even on a summers day, best to be prepared.

There seems to be a lot of walking on this tour, is it difficult?

The tour visits the Mount Field National park and we do go on two 30 minute walks to see the Russell Falls and the amazing Tall Trees. The route takes us on well used pathways but we are walking through a natural forest, so good to wear comfortable walking shoes.
